What is EquineFlow?

EquineFlow is a neuroscience-informed approach to horse-guided human development, founded by Monique Ravesloot. It began in 2009 at WolfOak Farm in Piedmont, SC, as a program for horse guided human development and corporate training. In 2019, EquineFlow expanded to train and certify practitioners across four levels of equine assisted coaching specializations. In 2020, a virtual service called InterFlow was introduced to support clients during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The EquineFlow approach integrates multiple modalities and is grounded in neuroscience, real-world observation, and years of practice in horse-guided human development.

Who is it for?

The EquineFlow approach is designed to support both people and horses, with each practitioner connecting to a specific audience. Certified EquineFlow Practitioners work with clients from all walks of life, including youth in underserved communities and leaders in education and corporate sectors. Each year, we expand our team of Certified EquineFlow Practitioners, allowing us to reach new demographics and locations. Currently, we have 50 trained practitioners from six different nationalities.

Why is it needed?

We discovered that systemic challenges affect everyone, from everyday individuals to CEOs of multinationals. Life can be tough, and in complex environments, we need spaces and processes that help us regain clarity, regulation, and perspective. When people are more integrated internally, they tend to make better decisions, both individually and collectively. Without that integration, people may react to circumstances instead of responding strategically, which can unintentionally cause harm and trigger further cycles of reaction.
This is where EquineFlow and InterFlow, our model without horses, come in. The approach helps people move from reaction to orientation, and from overwhelm to more deliberate action. It also helps them support others in doing the same.

What is the intended outcome?

The intended outcome is lasting change that supports human wellbeing, sound leadership, and healthier systems over time. If an effort does not contribute to long-term wellbeing for the people and systems involved, it is worth questioning where that energy is going.

Why horses?

In the EquineFlow approach, horses help create the kind of environment many people rarely experience anymore: open space, nonverbal feedback, and room to slow down enough to notice what is actually happening inside and around them. That makes it easier to regulate, think clearly, and engage challenges without becoming overwhelmed.
